The Power of Gratitude

Being grateful can change a person's mood and perspective on life. A simple way to practice gratitude in your every day life is to begin a gratitude journal. To make this journaling experience even more powerful, it helps to say silently or aloud "thank you" ten times. With each repetition of the words "thank you" a deeper sense of appreciation surfaces. Once you feel this deep sense of gratitude, begin to write a list of what you are currently thankful in your life using the words "I am grateful for... or thank you for..." Next, you can write down things that you want to happen in your life, but write these items in the present tense as if they have already happened. According to The Secret Gratitude Book, "when you are grateful for the things that you want to come into your life (the perfect relationship, the dream job, absolute health, total abundance) before they actually appear, you are sending out a frequency to the universe that you already have those things and by giving thanks for it now you will attract those things to you." Personally, practicing gratitude has changed my life. For more information about The Secret and The Secret Gratitude Book click on The Secret Link at the bottom of this page.

Living in the Moment

Because our fast paced world demands so much multi-tasking and technological equipment, it seems that people often find themselves disconnected from what is actually occurring in the space they occupy at any given moment. Not only are people disconnected from their surroundings, they are usually disconnected from their body as well. With so many demands on time and energy, I find it helpful to notice when I am completely disconnected from my surroundings and purposely take a deep breath to reacquaint myself with both my body and physical surroundings. It is difficult to enjoy life when you are not present for it!
